Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
Please note that ranking on Google depends on so much more than just your on-page optimization. You could have the perfect article and still struggle to break the top 10 in SERPs. Here are some of the factors Google considers when ranking you:
1. Your website’s authority
2. Your content’s quality and how better it is than the other article currently ranking.
3. How competitive the keyword is.
4. How many backlinks you have and if they are better than what the other guys ranking for that keyword have.
5. Your website’s crawlability.
6. Frequency of new content and content updates.
7. So much more that there is a dedicated blog post on it by Brian Dean 🙂 https://backlinko.com/google-ranking-factors
I would recommend that you keep at it and work on acquiring more links to break into the top SERPs.
With all that said, head over to Google Search Console and look for any coverage issues so we can further determine what’s causing your website to de-rank.
Looking forward to helping you on this one.
Thanks for your reply.
We have been monitoring Search Console and all pages are indexed. (Most just recently.)
No penalties are shown.
Any ideas?
Thanks,.
Hello,
A decrease in rankings can be due to many reasons, and one of the most common reasons is that Google multiple times a month, releases algorithmic updates, and these updates hit many websites causing a temporary decrease in clicks/rankings.
We have a full guide on that: https://rankmath.com/blog/google-algorithm-update-recovery/
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Thanks for the reply.
One keyword came back for a day, then left. Now a completely different one is showing.
Strange.
Hello,
In this case, the keyword you are trying to rank is probably highly competitive so this may require you to further improve your content and build more backlinks as I mentioned in my previous reply. Can you please share a couple of keywords you are trying to rank?
Looking forward to helping you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Note that a couple of these are not high competition keywords.
Hello,
I can confirm that there are some websites that are taking over those keywords on the SERP. In this case, I suggest waiting a bit until Google will rank you up on the SERP, continue building your backlinks, and post relevant content.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Yes, but like I say many of them were ranking.
Hello,
Unfortunately, it is completely normal for keywords to lose ranking for a website based on the reasons listed by my colleague.
For example, if the website that is currently ranking is optimizing the content further and gaining more authority backlinks, it is expected to rank higher than the other search results.
Another very common reason for losing the rankings, as mentioned by my colleague, is the algorithmic updates of Google. In this case, you can follow the guide shared previously to recover from the issue.
We suggest further optimizing the website and continue gaining high-quality backlinks to further increase your chances of getting ranked higher: https://backlinko.com/high-quality-backlinks
Hope this helps.
Thank you.
