Theme Conflict

It appears that the June 1 update to RankMath has caused a conflict with the Divi theme by Elegant Themes. Now when I try to save changes made using the Divi Visual Builder, I get the following error:

An error has occurred while saving your page. Various problems can cause a save to fail, such as a lack of server resources, firewall blockages, plugin conflicts or server misconfiguration. You can try saving again by clicking Try Again, or you can download a backup of your unsaved page by clicking Download Backup. Backups can be restored using the portability system while next editing your page.

Contacting your host and asking them to increase the following PHP variables may help: memory_limit, max_execution_time, upload_max_filesize, post_max_size, max_input_time, max_input_vars. In addition, auditing your firewall error log (such as ModSecurity) may reveal false positives that are preventing saves from completing.

Lastly, it is recommended that you temporarily disable all WordPress plugins and browser extensions and try to save again to determine if something is causing a conflict.

To troubleshoot, I disabled all plugins, which resolved the save error. I then reactivated plugins until the error recurred, which happened when I reactivated RankMath. To be sure, I deactivated RankMath again, activated all other plugins, and was able to save without error. I then reactivated RankMath and the error recurred. I had not experienced this error until today. There have been no Divi updates since May 12 so I am reasonably certain it is not my most recent Divi update that caused the problem and that it is rather related to the most recent RankMath update. I will also report this error to Elegant Themes but would appreciate RankMath support to troubleshoot and resolve.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I wasn’t able to replicate the issue from our end.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

This may seem to be a firewall issue as I noticed the 403 error in the console log of the browser. Can you please contact your hosting provider and try disabling Modsecurity temporarily to see if this resolves the issue?

If the issue persists, let us know and we will further investigate it.

I am looking forward to helping you with this one.

I contacted my host and they said they could not disable modsecurity, but they checked the logs and observed that nothing appears when I trigger the error by trying to save in the Divi visual builder. They told me that we can therefore rule out it being a modsecurity issue.

    Hello,

I have forwarded this to our devs to check. Please also get in touch with the support of GiveWP and check if this is something that can be fixed from their end.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

It looks like our Link Counter module is conflicting with the GiveWP elements. Our development team is currently checking this issue and we’ll let you know as soon as we fix this.

For now, please disable the Link Counter module from Dashboard >> Rank Math >> Modules page.

    I hope that helps.

Thanks for the update. I disabled the link counter module in the Rank Math settings, and after that I was successfully able to save the page in the Divi visual builder. I will update Elegant Themes and GiveWP with this information.
