Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math.
You can exclude the page from the sitemap, head over to Rank Math > Sitemap settings > Exclude posts.
You need to enter the post/page ID that you want to remove from the sitemap.
Here is a guide that you can follow:
https://rankmath.com/kb/configure-sitemaps/#exclude-posts
Hope that helps.
Thank you.
Hi Anas,
Thank you. I entered a post ID 714 for the page https://packedwithpurpose.gifts/wp-admin/post.php?post=714&action=edit in the exclusion field in Rank Math SEO the way you explained it, but it didn’t make any difference even after 24 hours.
Am I missing anything?
Regards,
Pramod
Hello,
Can you please follow these steps?
1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp
2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/
Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Hi,
Could you please confirm if the sitemap on our site packedwithpurpose.gifts is being generated by Rank Math SEO?
Regards,
Pramod
Hello,
Yes, it is being generated from Rank Math and the page you mentioned initially is no longer part of the page sitemap.
Hope this helps clarify your doubts.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
Hi Miguel,
But I still see the faq link listed in sitemap that you can access at https://packedwithpurpose.gifts/site-map/
Please see the image where I marked the link red.
Hello,
That is an HTML sitemap and our plugin doesn’t generate those.
The sitemap from our plugin is an XML sitemap that is used by Search Engines to discover pages on your website and it’s currently here: https://packedwithpurpose.gifts/sitemap_index.xml
Hope this helps clarify your doubts.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
Thank you Miguel. I wonder why Rankmath lists all XML sitemap URLs in an sitemap index file instead of listing all URLs from each sitemaps in the index file.
Hello,
This is to keep it organized and reduce the loading time of the sitemap. This way, search engines will have ease of access to the URLs being added to your sitemap pages.
This is a common practice among other SEO services and tools.
Hope this clarifies any doubt.
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Thank you, Jeremy.
How to remove ‘https://packedwithpurpose.gifts/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/chicago-innovation-
awards.jpg’ from the sitemap?
Regards,
Pramod
Hello,
Could you please confirm if this image URL has already been deleted? If so, Rank Math should be able to exclude that automatically from the sitemap.
Please clear your website cache again or follow the steps here.
Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Hi,
The image is present in our WordPress media library, but the URL to the image is not present in any of the seven XML files listed on opening https://packedwithpurpose.gifts/sitemap_index.xml. Could you please help me find where that URL is present among those 7 XMLL files? Once you respond, I’m going to delete the image from the Media library.
Regards,
Pramod
Hello,
I checked all the sitemaps on your website but was unable to locate that image URL.
An image gets added to the sitemap only if it is added to a post/page/CPT. If not added, the URL remains excluded from the sitemaps.
Hope that helps.
Thank you.
Thank you, this is fixed.
Hello,
We are super happy that this resolved your issue.
If you have another question in the future, please feel free to create a new forum topic, and it will be our pleasure to assist you again.
Thank you.
