Meta Description is not loaded in the preview on first page load

    Hi,

I’m using the standard WordPress editor and when the edit page is loaded, the Meta Description is not loaded in the snippet preview (and also not used in the basic SEO scores below the snippet).

If I click ‘Edit Snippet’ I can see the description is present, but the SEO score is grey so it’s not recognised. If I edit one character in the description box it’s recognised and included in the SEO score.

Saving of the data works, but the same behaviour as explained above happens when loading the edit page again. I’ve looked for console errors (none showing up) and plugin conflicts but have found no issues.

I’ve included links to pictures in the sensitive data field.

    Thanks!
    /Johan

I should add that the snippet preview is correctly displayed when using the Block editor and Elementor, so it just seems to be broken in the Classic editor.

    Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

To generate the meta description preview in our meta box, your post type should have editor support. Please edit the settings of your post type and add the editor support. However, the issue is only with the preview, the description will be applied correctly in the front-end.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.

    Hi Jaideep,

Yes, I understand that will work as a work-around. But is there a bug filed to fix this? Seems like something that should be fixed if it’s just a preview issue?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

It is not a bug. Our plugin needs editor support to show the preview. The preview will show fine once enable editor support for the post type.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.

    Hi Jaideep,

I don’t fully understand how it’s not a bug? Your plugin absolutely works without editor support as the description is correctly reflected when the field has been edited. It’s just not correctly included on the initial load of the page. All the other fields are read correctly on load (meta title, custom fields, etc.), and no other SEO plugin that I’ve tested have this issue either.

Any chance this can be escalate as a request to be fixed?

    Thanks

    Hello,

I checked with the devs and there is a requirement for editor support set by our developers to generate the preview in the editor that’s why everything else works fine except the description preview. That requirement is needed for the functions used to generate the preview and can’t be changed.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in case you need any other assistance.
