    Hello,

I discovered when I edited existing posts/pages they immediately displayed 404 error (like 410). Same thing was happening to newly published articles. I asked my host WPXhosting to investigate and discovered it was RM.

Upon deactivating RM, the issues resolved. Now the posts are displaying properly – not more 404 error.

    Hi Patrick,

It appears like you have setup the post as a 410 in the Advanced tab:
    https://i.rankmath.com/Llzieo

Changing it 301 and then not entering a destination URL field will fix this issue. This is the default setting and should only be changed if you know what you are doing.

With that said, I highly recommend going through the following guide to set up the plugin completely and correctly:
    https://youtu.be/dTvZuMRzW4w
    and
    https://www.wpmediamastery.com/rank-math-seo/?&utm_campaign=Rank+Math

I hope that helps. Please let me know if there’s anything I can help you with.

This is strange. Are you sure this us the problem? I’d been using RM on this site since last year, with no issues.

The only place I set 410 was for deleted URLs I want them permanently deleted and that was also done many months ago.

    Anyway I’ll check again.

I think RM is messing up somewhere. As I said earlier, I’d been using RM since last year, on same setting with no issues.

Now I tested on my second site and got same 404 issue: https://swfas.org/fit-summer-body/

Am sharing a screenshot of my redirection setting: https://snipboard.io/anrUAx.jpg

As you can see I have 195 pages I’d set to 410 and 310 from the beginning of using RM with success. This issue t is coming after latest RM updates.

I know this is a free tool, but I need you guys to help me look into it properly, without altering previous deleted pages/posts I’d set to 410 and 301. Let me know if this will cost me some money?

NOTE: On my second site, swfas.org, I have 338 deleted pages set to 410 and 310. Am having same issues on it as well. https://snipboard.io/unL2Pg.jpg

    Hello Patrick,

We have released an update to sort this issue. Basically, this happens if you had chosen 410 as the default redirect type at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Redirections.

We have added some checks to avoid this from happening and causing newly published posts in the Classic Editor to be marked as 410.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thanks
