Hello Team!
We have used the %excerpt% on all our pages. But lately, the new pages that we are publishing, do not create a proper Meta Description in HTML. This is causing SEO indexing issues as the Description is not proper.
Can you please check and let us know how to fix this?
Thanks!

Hello,
Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.
To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c
Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.
If the issue persists, please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
We really look forward to helping you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello
We have tried the troubleshooting, as suggested and could not find any conflict with other plugins. So, we have created a temporary user for your support team and shared the details.
The problem seems to be very similar to the issue in https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/no-meta-description-2/ .
However, we cant figure out how to fix the issue.
Thanks in advance!Hello,
When you use the
%excerpt%variable our plugin tries to look for a paragraph tag that has the same focus keyword to set it in the meta description for SEO purposes. In the case of those pages the snippet that is being added is the first that the plugin finds with the same focus keyword, hence why changing the focus keyword makes it seem like the variable works again.
Take the first page in the additional example, for example, you have a paragraph inside your table with the focus keyword, and as such the variable detects that and outputs its value.
If you change the HTML markup so that those table cells are
spanand not paragraph tags the description will fetch the data again as you wish.Hope this helps clarify your doubts.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
Hello!
We are not sure how you figured out such a minor detail, but that is exactly what the problem was on our pages. The conflict seemed to be happening because of tables in our elementor pages. The meta description was being read from the first <p> tag on the page (which happened to be in the tables, in this case).Anyways, as suggested, we replaced <p> with <span> in all the pages where the focus keyword was falling inside the <p> and the problem got resolved automatically. The excerpt now reads from the beginning of the page.
Thank you for your fantastic support! We now understand why RankMath is one of the best SEO plugin.
