Hello,
Thanks for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
You can use %seo_description%
variable in the description field of the Article Schema and it will automatically fetch the meta description. The Article Schema fetches all the details automatically and you don’t need to add anything manually in it.
To learn more about setting up other Schema types, you can search our KB for the related guides: https://rankmath.com/kb
Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.
I can’t add %seo_description%. 🙁 The field returns white. In fact, in the global settings, there would be that variable but it is instead white on the homepage.
Hello,
Upon adding the %seo_description%
variable in the description field, the variable would be faded but it will fetch the meta description of the page and add it to the Schema.
Please test the page using this tool and see if the description is picked:

If that doesn’t work, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello,
Thank you for your patience as we check your schema markup and settings.
I tested a post on your website and the schema was applied correctly. Based on the test results, there is no need to add the %seo_description% variable as it is automatically added to the default schema. You can test your schema pasting a link to any post in the Google Rich Results Test: https://search.google.com/test/rich-results. I have included a directly link to the test results for the post I validated in the sensitive data area.
Please let us know if you have questions. We are here to help.
I don’t think like you, or there is a graphic error.

Hello,
It is a visual issue on your site where the variable is not visible in the Schema editor but the description is being added to the Schema in the frontend so there is nothing to be worried about. It could be due to the theme of the dashboard as the issue persists even when a default theme is active.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.
Thanks.
