Google search is showing the wrong image from my website

When searching in the google image search I find images from my products and if I click on the image the link opens a page that shows another product on my site.

As I noticed somehow google doesn’t use the main product image, but Google uses the product image gallery or related product images.

Are there any settings from Rank Math that I can enable?

    Thank you!

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

This tells us that Google thinks that the image shown in your video screencast is much more optimized for the desired search term.

I tried checking the affected URL directly in Google and it seems both the unwanted image and the correct image are showing up as you can see in my screenshot below:

Having said that, this is an automated process and no SEO plugin or tool has control over what comes out on the image search.

Best practices to get desired thumbnails are to add images on your page that you want to display on SERPs and also include a featured image. Ensure that the images contain proper ALT texts. This will give Google the correct indications and it might show the picture in the future.

Looking forward to helping you on this one.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello Jeremy,

Thank you for the fast reply.

    – Yes but some other URLs show only the wrong product image, and not the featured image of my product.

    – Is there any reason to dive deep into Rank Math Schema Settings and have a closer look? I also can give you access at the backend if you want to?

    – The website is new and I am trying to implement as I can all the good SEO tactics you mention with ALT texts.

I will send one more Loom Screencast, you can see that I use ALT texts same as the product title, 1280×1280 image sizes and all the images are compressed.

I need to fix that issue with images, is there anything to do?
    What do you suggesting me?

    Best Regards,
    Chris

    Hello,

The images you see on Google SERPs are not controlled via the Schema markup or any plugin, but rather they are taken directly from your page when Google thinks it’s beneficial for the user to show those and it mostly depends on the keyword search term and the website authority.

As you have already added relevant ALT text, you can wait for Google to recrawl your website and see if the images are displayed in the search results.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
