Hello, is it normal that when I go to see the 404 monitor section every day I see 404 errors appear?
Can this ruin my website SEO? How do I solve. Many errors have .xml .php what does that mean?

I scanned the site online to see if I have any viruses but I have no viruses. After scanning with these online tools, other 404 errors appeared in the dashboard.

Should i worry or can i ignore?

Thank you very much and appreciate your help.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Please note that we only report the 404s. We do not have information on how or why they are generated. You can get further insight into them by enabling the advanced monitor at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/monitor-404-errors/#advanced-404-monitor

That will give you more information like referrer and user-agent. You can use that information to track down the source or find out if it is just bots generating those errors.

You can also fix these errors by redirecting them to a related page on your website:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-404-errors/

Or, you can add them to the exclusion list at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor > Exclude Paths

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you.

Ok, I understand. But is normal everyday to find some new error?

    Hello,

If you are seeing random 404s that you know for a fact are incorrect – it is likely generated by a bot and can be safely ignored. You could also use a service like Cloudflare to block out access to bots so they do not use up your server resources.

Hello today I found this type of errors. I know they are bots. but where do they come from? Why the errors are http type and not https? My domain is https… I don’t understand where these requests come from.

    Could they damage my seo?

    Hello,

As explained by my colleagues, we have no insights on where the 404 is coming from. To address it, you may refer to the guide my colleague presented or block unwanted bot crawlers via security software or Cloudflare.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Ok, thank you. Bot and crawlers can damage seo with 404 errors?

    Hello,

No, the 404s caused by the bots shouldn’t cause any issues with the SEO of your site as the 404s only cause issues when the search engine crawlers or your visitors are experiencing them. The bots visit random URLs and they don’t affect your site’s SEO performance.

Hope this clarifies your doubts. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in case you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.
