Website Incorrectly Considered As Local

Hi I have configured Rank Math on my website but for whatever reason it has listed my site as a Local business because under the titles and meta section local SEO appears. This is not relevant for my website and I do not want it to be indexed incorrectly. In the setup wizard I selected “other business website” and under business type I selected “website”. What can I do to prevent the site from being indexed as a local business?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

The local SEO module is intended to optimize your website for a local audience, then I can recommend that your disable the local SEO module by heading over to Rank Math > Dashboard.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Thanks for the help. So it is recommended to turn this off if a website is intended for a global audience?

    Hi Guy,

    Thanks for the reply.

This module also adds the knowledgegraph schema for your listing which increases click through rates for your SERP entry and thus should not be disabled.
As a best practice, I can recommend that you choose organization if your business does not have a physical location and you do not want to optimize it for a particular location.

You can learn more about this here: https://www.schemaapp.com/tutorial/how-to-do-schema-markup-for-local-business/

    I hope this info helps.
