Setup Wizard Redirects to Dashboard

    I cannot run the setup wizard – every time it redirects to my WP Dashboard.

    I have tried with default 2020 theme with all other plugins disabled, and don’t know what else to do. Many thanks for any help that you can provide, as I’d love to move away from Yoast!

  • Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    Is it an option to perform a fresh install of the plugin?
    You can do this by adding the following code to your theme’s functions.php file:

    /**
     * Filter to remove Rank Math data from the database
     */
    add_filter( 'rank_math_clear_data_on_uninstall', '__return_true' );

    Next deactivate and delete the plugin and then perform a fresh install after removing the above code.

    Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi Michael

    I just did the re-install following your instructions and when I click the blue button to activate, it takes me to the rankmath.com homepage. I am logged into my account but the ‘Websites’ section of ‘My account’ shows no linked websites…

    Can’t figure out how to make the link between my website and my rankmath account

    I tries choosing ‘skip now’ and trying to start the setup wizard from WP dashboard, but I’m back to where I started!

    Hi Paul,

    It looks like the URL setting in WordPress Dashboard > Settings > General is incorrect.

    You must change them to the staging site URL and then the setup wizard will be working fine and you can correctly connect your website to your RankMath.com account.

    Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi Todd

    thanks for the reply. I am using SiteGround for my hosting and working on a ‘staging’ site. I can’t change the site URL as it breaks the environment (as I think SiteGround replace URLs on the fly for their staging). Maybe there is no way around this? If not, I’ll have to wait until the site has been pushed to live, and then do the SEO stuff?

    I haven’t marked the ticket as resolved in case you can think of an alternative way of fixing this issue?

    Regards

    Hi Paul,

    Hi Paul,

    You can connect the website with your account when it is live. You can still use the plugin and use it to do optimizations. There are just a few options that might not work like using more than 1 focus keyword or a couple of content analysis tests. Everything else works perfectly fine without ever linking your account.

    With that said, I have connected your website manually from our end so it is all good to go now.

    Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
