    Hi There,

I’m having a problem with my header image not showing when a page is shared on Facebook.

This is the error message from the facebook debug tool – ‘URL requested a HTTP redirect, but it could not be followed’

Here is the link to the facebook debug report –

    [Moved to Sensitive Data section]

When I look at the source code I can see is that there is a HTTP:// link instead of https.

I use simple SSL plugin on the site so all links should be https

    [Moved to Sensitive Data section]

I have read through the help section of rank math and tried adding the hook – (Filter to change OpenGraph URL ( og:URL )

I added to the functions PHP of my child theme. ( I did make and add it to rank-math.php, but the text of the hook was shown at the top of live front-end pages)

I then cleared cache and cleared cloudflare and tried again, but still no image showing up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Regards

    James

    Hi

I didn’t realise this will be published for others to see. I just tried to delete my website URL, links and my name, but it would allow me to edit that.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I moved the URL and the meta information to the Sensitive data section.

Could you please share the hook you are trying to implement so we can review it further?

You may paste the code here https://pastebin.com/ and share the URL in the sensitive Data section as well.

Looking forward to helping you on this one.

    Hi Jeremy

    Thanks for your reply.

The hook is just one of rank maths –

    I didn’t modify anything.

would you mind also removing the link to the site at the top of the 1st post – Thank you

    Hello,

Please head over to your WordPress admin area > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Global Meta, and set a default OpenGraph Thumbnail for your website to fix this issue.

If the above method doesn’t work then kindly remove the filter from your functions.php or rank-math.php. After that, delete the website and browser cache then check again.

We hope that helps. Please let us know how that goes.

    Thank you

    Hi Azib

Thanks for the suggestions. I added the default picture and checked. I also tried deleting the hook, but I still had the same error message in Facebook developers debug after both.

Also, on Facebook itself, the image is still not displayed.

Any other suggestions would be great.

    Thank you

    Hello,

I checked a few other pages of your website and the og:url in some of those pages also had HTTP rather than HTTPS. You can have a look at the screenshot in the sensitive data section of this ticket for a quick reference.

Please get in touch with your web host to see if there are any issues with the SSL.

Let us know how that goes.

    Thank you.

    Hi Prabhat

Yeah, I did notice that and mentioned it in the opening post. As I said I use the Simple SSL plugin on the site.

Can you elaborate on the SSL issues that could be the problem? The hosting for this site are not English speakers and I’ll need to ask something specific or I’m not sure they will be able to help.

    Thank you again

    Hello,

You can inform your host that the og:url is being added as HTTP instead of HTTPS and ask them to check if there is something wrong with the SSL configuration on your site.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

    Thanks.
