  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Please note that our plugin only parses images from the actual post content, and if you have the PRO version it will also parse images from ACF fields.

Looking at your sitemaps, it seems to include only category pages which won’t have such images and thus not be included in the sitemap.

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

    Thanks for quick replay.

Do I understand it correctly that the sitemap for product category will not parse images whether I have free Math Rank or Pro?

    Hello,

Since you wish to show the image count in the taxonomy sitemap (https://www.blackfridayoversikten.no/product_cat-sitemap.xml), please note that all the taxonomies in the sitemaps display the images that are directly added to them.

I have checked the sitemap – https://www.blackfridayoversikten.no/product_cat-sitemap.xml, and there are no images added to any product category, which is why Rank Math is not parsing any images.

Do note that if there is a product with images in a product category, then the image count would be shown for that product only i.e, in the product sitemap and not in the product category sitemap.

    Hope this helps.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Thank you.

    I think I understand.

All is good for the images in the product page shown within product category. If I understand it correctly, these images will be found in the sitemap for the product.

However, each product category type has a thumbnail and a banner that I would like to attach to the product category (sitemap?, media library?). And sitemap, as Math Rank point out, shows 0 images.

Here is an example from the dasbhoard showing that I actually use images and images banner in the product category page:

    Kindly advice.

    Hello,

Can you please confirm if you are using any plugin to add the images in your product category?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Not using any special image plugins to my knowledge.

    Hello,

I have checked the image that you have shared here and I have also checked your product category sitemap.

I found that even though you are adding images to your category pages in the backend, they are not being displayed in the actual category page, i.e., on the frontend of the site.

Please note that if the content of your product category pages doesn’t have any images on the frontend, then you shouldn’t expect any images in the product category sitemap.

And remember that the product images that are displayed on the product category pages don’t count as the image for that category page, as those are already included in the product sitemap.

Hope this helps provide further clarity into the situation.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

Thank you for being so helpful and for the clarification. Now understand what I can expect regarding sitemap. Now that issue is settled.

Still have the issue with the thumbnails/images/banner for the category pages not being able to upload in the media labrary which creates a mess. Usually when I upload images and files to media library I am able to connect them from the drop down for attachement to pages, products, or posts, but I am not able to do so with for product category. It jsut does not show up on the drop wown list.

The result is that I am getting more and more images that are uploaded to anything
    https://ibb.co/Wg923rw
and it is getting more and more messy and difficult to keep organized.

Any idea how to solve this?

    Hello,

That’s the default behavior of WordPress. It only allows you to attach the images to the post types and not to their taxonomies. That’s why you are not seeing an option to attach them to a Product Category.

You can use the Redirect Attachments option of Rank Math from WP Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Links and Redirect the Orphan Images to the homepage or any other URL you want.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    Thanks.

The Redirect Orphan Attachments page has the address https://www.blackfridayoversikten.no but when I am at my FrontPage and copy the URL the link is https://www.blackfridayoversikten.no/

Is this OK, or should I include the ¨/¨ at the end to get this correct?

    Hello,

The trailing slash doesn’t matter in the case of your homepage URL. So it doesn’t matter if you use the one with trailing slash or without trailing slash. They both are the same.

Hope this clarifies your doubts. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in case you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.
