    Hello,

I’m having an issue on two sites with description for pages. On both site Single Page Description is set to %seo_description% for Single Page Title and Headline. On both sites the example being shown is either the second or last paragraph from the Example page (example page 1: https://photo-journ.com/asean-news-headlines/ Example page 2 https://aseannewstoday.com/asean-news-headlines/).

So, on both websites it shows the correct title and headline using %title% %sep% %sitename%, but for default single page description and for headline description example it is showing:

Example 1 “Feature photo John Le Fevre”

Example 2 “Asean news headlines is updated every thirty minutes with material gathered from a range of sources using RSS technology. As such, Asean news headlines is not manually edited and occassionally miscategorised material appears in reports. We apologise for that. If you find this useful it would be appreciated if you share this page on social media using the buttons below.”

These pages are republished twice a day to freshen the publication date/ time in the sitemap. These pages all have custom seo descriptions.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    John

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Even if you have the correct meta description and title set up exactly how you want is entirely up to the Google algorithm to decide whether it will show that or not depending on the search term and location.

Here’s an article where we go over this situation: https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/

Also, recently Google changed the way it outputs the titles on SERPs and you can read more about it here: https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2021/08/update-to-generating-page-titles

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

I am not talking about what Google shows. I am talking about what Rank Math is displaying. I have no idea why it is dragging something from the bottom of an actual page when I have gone to the time and trouble of setting up custom SEO page and headline descriptions.
What is the point of doing that?
Why doesn’t it just display some garbage for posts?

    Hello,

Google does not always follow the meta description you have set. In such cases there is nothing we can do to force google to use the correct meta description. You may refer to the following article for more information. https://www.searchenginejournal.com/why-google-rewrites-meta-descriptions/

You can follow our knowledge base article to increase the chances of having the correct meta title and description displaying: https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/

Hope that helps. If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask.

    This is ridiculous.
I writing about Rank Math not doing what it is meant to do and your answering about what fuck9ng Google does. Are you people retarded?

Google can’t display what Rank Math isn’t even offering and Rank Math is serving up total shit to Google and totally ignoring what I’ve told it to present to Google.

    Are you people fucki9ng insane?

I’ll be emailing this directly to Bhanu Ahluwalia
