Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.
Yes, setting Page B’s robots meta to noindex
is enough for search engines to stop crawling that page and displaying it on the search results pages.
I hope that helps.
Thank you.
Thanks for your reply, Reinelle. To be clear, I still want Page B to help, in terms of SEO, through the “more info” link. I just don’t want it indexed. Will the content in Page B help Page A’s SEO if it is not indexed?
This is why I included all the other settings, as I’m just trying to understand correctly.
Thanks!
Hello,
A noindex page, by default, does not add any additional value to the website’s SEO.
However, as you’re linking it from the main page, Page B would be of value here as the users would also be benefitted from the information on Page B.
With that being said, it is not a good SEO practice to add internal links to pages that are set to noindex as this creates a conflicting signal for the search engines.
You can have a look at this article for a quick reference: https://www.searchenginejournal.com/links-noindex-pages-seo/368194/#:~:text=3.%20Internal%20Links%20Pointing%20to%20a%20Page%20on%20Your%20Site%20With%20a%20Meta%20Robots%20Noindex
Hope this helps.
Thank you.
