Google analytics is now showing a very odd bounce rate since installing Rank Math. I had the Google Analytics code in the header of my site but removed it when this first happened. Things did not improve. My bounce rate has gone from over 70% to 18%. While I would love a lower bounce rate, this is obviously artificial and I have no clue as to how it can be happening.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for the delay and for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

The bounce rate issue could be caused due to various reasons, where page speed nowadays is the most important issue. There could be various methods to decrease the bounce rate.

You can refer to this guide for more clarification:

You can use Rank Math’s 404 Monitor to keep an eye on your important pages to ensure they are properly reachable.

Here are some other reasons why bounce rates may increase: https://www.searchenginejournal.com/website-bounce-rate/332439/

That didn’t help at all. I understand that there is something artificially deflating my bounce rate. It only happened once I installed RankMath and removed Yoast.

    Hello,

This usually happens if the Analytics tracking code is added multiple times on the website.

Could you please check again if the Analytics tracking code is added twice on your website?

If you have enabled the Install Analytics Code option in Rank Math, please disable it by going to Rank Math > General settings > Analytics and see if that fixes the issue.

    Looking forward to helping you.

I removed the code from the header…and saw the bounce rate continue to plummet. I assumed something the same. I have edited the rank math settings and will watch for another day. If that doesn’t work, I will definitely remove the analytics from RankMath and stick to the ones in my analytics page. Will this still allow me access to the 401 report? That looks like it may be a handy feature.

    Hello,

By 401 report, do you mean the 404 monitor?

You can use the 404 Monitor, it would not be affected.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
