The editor has encountered an unexpected error

It seems like you are using the standalone Gutenberg plugin. Can you please switch to the in-built block editor of WP 5.0+? That will fix the issue immediately.

If you don’t want to switch, please wait for an update that will fix this issue.

Please do note that the update might take a while since this is a tricky issue and requires some of the code to be re-written. Rest assured that you can turn off the Gutenberg plugin because apart from containing additional experimental features – it has nothing that the inbuilt Block editor of WP 5.0 doesn’t have.

Gutenburg editor is usually the default WP Editor since WP 5.0. Please make sure you have deactivated any other editor plugin and that you haven’t used code snippets to disable Gutenberg. If you still are unable to activate Gutenberg we would be glad to offer assistance.
