    Rank Math free

    Hi there,

I have a new website. A couple of weeks ago I set up Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager and inserted the code for each into my website.

When I commenced the setup of Rank Math, I couldn’t find the existing property in the drop down so I created a universal one and now it shows up.

    The questions I have are:
    1. Do I need to remove the old property code for analytics and tag manager from the website head/body? Do I need to replace it with the new property code?

    2. Do I delete the old property codes from Google Analytics?

I’m feeling overwhelmed, confused, and concerned I’m going to get myself in a big mess as I have no idea what I’m doing.

    Thanks!

    Prue.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    1. The property that you have manually inserted into your website is a property not made by Uniserveral Analytics or GA3 which Rank Math doesn’t currently support so if you wish to make use of Rank Math’s Analytics, I would suggest removing that and making use of the Universal Analytics that you just made.

    2. You can retain the old property you made if you wish as Google Analytics allows you to have multiple properties in your account.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Thank you. How do I know which code I need to keep?

I have one in the heading code commented out like this:

    <!– Global site tag (gtag.js) – Google Analytics –>

one in the heading code commented out like this:
    <!– Google Tag Manager –>

And one in the body code commented out like this:
<!– Google Tag Manager (noscript) –>

Which one/ones belong to Rank Math?

    Hello,

Rank Math’s tracking code usually be added before the </head> tag.

To be safe, you can temporarily disable Rank Math’s tracking code under General Settings > Analytics, remove the old property that you manually added and turn on Rank Math’s tracking code after doing so.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

Do you mean General Settings>Analaytics>Install analytics code?

I turned this off and went to Divi>Theme Options>Integration and all the previous codes were still there. could I provide access to my website backend so that you can help me out? WOuld that be a faster way?

    Hello,

Sure, please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress login in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

There you go! I have added it to the Sensitive Data section.

    Hello,

We have multiple tracking codes on your website and our recommendation is that you use only one.

If you would like to add the tracking code with Rank Math you can enable the setting you currently have to add the code via our plugin and remove any third-party code you might have added prior to this.

If you would like to keep using the Google Tag Manager you can remove the option that adds the code from our plugin.

Please note that in the Free version the data inside the Analytics module comes exclusively from the Google Search Console data.

Hope this helps clarify your doubts.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

It just adds to the confusion :/

If you would like to keep using the Google Tag Manager you can remove the option that adds the code from our plugin: What is the advantage/disadvantage of Using Rnk Math instead of Google Tage Manager?

Please note that in the Free version the data inside the Analytics module comes exclusively from the Google Search Console data: I don’t understand what this means for me. Can you please explain this further? i.e. “…comes exclusively from the Google Search Console data, so all the information is already there and you can log in to one product Rank Mat, rather than multiple places” – for example. Sorry I am so new to all of this and I am completely confused. I don’t know what is going on.

    Hello,

We deeply apologize for the confusion.

Rank Math doesn’t support Google Tag Manager at the moment, so if you wish to make use of GTM, you may need to disable Rank Math’s code as mentioned by my colleague in the previous reply.

The free version of Rank Math only fetches data from Google Search Console so there might be some slight differences in the data.

Hope this helps clarify your doubts.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
