My website is a portal with 10k pages, not sure whether because the similarity in url /product or /company and in designs made it especially hard for SEO. Usually in SERP only appear /product not /company pages. Last time I thought 404 pages are seen by user, now learning to see cached pages, normal pages seen by bot as 404, why is it so? Is it because of portal look like duplicated pages to Google? However, you’re referring 404 pages as seen by user, cached pages show 404 error means bot see the page as a 404, either server error or slow page loading, normal pages seen by bot as 404, why is it so?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Could you please share some of the affected URLs in the sensitive data section so we can check?
Looking forward to helping you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello,
I checked the URLs with https://httpstatus.io/, they are working fine and not returning a 404 error.
Check the screenshot in the sensitive data section.
Can you please confirm if you are referring to the 404 monitor in Rank Math and you are seeing 404 errors in the monitor?
If yes, then please note that we only report the 404s. We do not have information on how or why they are generated. You can get further insight into them by enabling the advanced monitor at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor:
https://rankmath.com/kb/monitor-404-errors/#advanced-404-monitorThat will give you more information like referrer and user-agent. You can use that information to track down the source or find out if it is just bots generating those errors.
You can also fix these errors by redirecting them to a related page on your website:
https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-404-errors/Or, you can add them to the exclusion list at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor > Exclude Paths
I hope that helps.
Thank you.
Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
It’s not http returning 404 error, but when I type cache: before these URLs, for example:
cache:https://www.good2retail.com/?s=chips&post_type=product
cache:https://www.good2retail.com/?s=&post_type=productCheck the screenshot in the URL as follow:
Maybe bots more difficult to parse and crawl parameter-driven URLs, which leads to duplicate content issues based on parameter order within the URL, capitalization, basically generating multiple URL for each chunk of content?
>Or, you can add them to the exclusion list at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor > Exclude Paths
If I exclude URL, will it have same effect as write them in robots.txt, whereby in serp, only url will be shown, not meta title and meta description?
Thank you.
Best,
Sharon
Hello,
You’re getting that error message because Google’s bot has not yet fully crawled your site, once they do you’ll see a cached version available as part of the indexing. However, this may sometimes happen because Google doesn’t store a cached view for all the pages they crawl and index.
There is nothing to be worried about as the pages are working fine and not returning a 404 error for the users and the web crawler.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Hi,
May I ask is it either due to server error or slow pages that Google’s bot has not yet fully crawled my site?Thank you.
Best,
SharonHello,
You can say that slow pages and server errors do hinder Google to crawl your website but as we check your website on the browser, it seems everything is working well.
You may need to give Google some time to fully crawl your website as you have so many pages in it.
Hope this helps you with your situation.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hi,
May I ask why sitemap.xml show blank page?Thank you.
Best,
SharonHello,
I checked it in Firefox browser and I saw the issue there as well. It seems the issue stems from your Litespeed plugin as you can see in this screenshot I shared in the Sensitive Data section.
Could you please ensure that you have excluded your sitemap from being cache by Litespeed? Here’s a quick guide for it: https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/#litespeed-cache
After that, flush the Sitemap cache again by following this video screencast:

Thank you.
Best,
SharonHello,
Our paid plans offer more features in addition to the features offered in the Free version of Rank Math.
Here is a comparison chart for your reference:
If Rank Math is installed on the WordPress website, then Rank Math lets you create sitemaps for your website, and you can configure sitemaps under Rank Math > Sitemap Settings.
