Although not being able to mark a category as a primary category while using the Gutenberg is a bug, it has no effect on the category marked in the frontend. That is completely dependent on how your theme detects and displays primary/secondary categories.
So, even if you select a category as a primary category – it won’t change the name of the category in the frontend because that option is only to be used internally by Rank Math for use in Breadcrumbs created using Rank Math.
We are taking note of the issue (not being able to select Primary Category in Gutenberg) and will soon fix it.
