Hi. there is a huge bug in rankmath’s sitemap feature which without any reason, it 404 the URL of sitemap.

for example, when I enable categories or tags to show in the sitemap, it becomes 404. and when I remove and again install them, it solves.
whenever I enable a feature in the sitemap section, this happens.

I ask from other users, they had it too!

I use the latest version of rank math for free.

and unfortunately i forced to remove plugin and use Yoast 🙁

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math Support today and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Can you please follow these steps?
    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

You may also refer to this KB guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/sitemap-404-error/

Please note that the category and tag sitemap can only work if you have actual categories or tags which are assigned to at least one post.

You can enter on each category or tag and see in the Rank Math’s Advanced section if you have it set as no-index, as you see in this screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/tffwpH

By doing this in most cases, this issue is solved.

Hope this helps you. Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.
