    Hi.
I uninstalled the site caching plugin and now there is a problem with the sitemap.
All 4 sitemaps have disappeared from search console. It shows that the Sitemap index file has been successfully processed, but it is empty and there are no new articles in the google index.
Can you please tell me how to fix it.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and we regret the inconvenience caused.

I checked and the sitemaps on your website are loading properly. I also accessed the sitemaps as Googlebot and there were no issues found. You can have a look at the screenshot in the sensitive data section of this ticket for a quick reference.

I also checked the robots.txt file on your website and I was unable to find the sitemap link there. Please add this statement at the end of the robots.txt: Sitemap: https://your-domain.com/sitemap_index.xml.

If you’re using the robots.txt file of Rank Math, then you can follow this guide to edit it: https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-edit-robots-txt-with-rank-math/

Once done, please follow the below steps and see if that fixes the issue:
    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    3. Clear your website’s cache and remove all the sitemaps from your Google Search Console account, and then submit only the main sitemap (your-domain.com/sitemap_index.xml) (please ensure to replace “your-domain.com” with your actual domain).

Further, give Google some time to crawl your website again and see if the issue is fixed.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    1. Added lines to the robots.txt file
    2. Sitemap cache on WP website cleared
    3. In Cloudflare, configured a caching rule for the sitemap
    4. Cleared completely the site cache, removed the sitemap from the search console and added it again (only one sitemap in the search console).

Today the site was indexed and nothing has changed: the number of articles is 198, Processed sitemaps – no, empty. https://prnt.sc/1xa0g4b

    Hello,

We checked your sitemap file and it seems it is working fine when loaded in the browser, I also checked it using a sitemap validator and it seems to be working just fine as you can see in the screenshot I inserted in the Sensitive Data section.

The robots file is also configured correctly.

One thing I noticed is that your /sitemap.xml file is not redirecting to /sitemap_index.xml which it should be.

We may need to further check this one over your admin dashboard and your FTP. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

    Hello,

To fix the issue mentioned by my colleague, I’ve set up a redirection from /sitemap.xml to /sitemap_index.xml on your website and the URL is redirecting properly now.

You can have a look at the screencast in the sensitive data section of this ticket for a quick reference.

Please clear your website’s cache and wait for Google to crawl the website again and see if the URLs are detected.

Also, please check the coverage report under your Google Search Console account to see if there are any errors shown, that might be causing some issues.

Let us know how that goes.

    Thank you.
