If the contact page is appearing on the first result this just means that Google thinks that is better optimized for the given search term.
You would need to improve the optimization of your homepage and try to build some backlinks to it to rank higher than the contact page for that search term.

Search engines look for a relevant match at URL, title tag, meta description tag, h1-h6 tags, body, etc. In your current situation, the search engine doesn’t take your homepage as the best match for the search phrases you use. What you can do is optimize your homepage on the keywords that you mentioned and try to build some backlinks. Some optimization tips have already been suggested by my colleague above.
It will take Google some time to re-crawl your pages and when it finds new changes, it might update your ranking.
