Rank Math creates a virtual Sitemap dynamically /sitemap_index.xml. We rely on redirects enabled by your server software to accomplish that. If the /sitemap.xml doesn’t work, you may need to add the codes in this link manually:

Please navigate to WP Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Edit .htaccess and add the rule in your .htaccess file.
And you will need to resubmit your main sitemap(sitemap_index.xml) in your Google Search Console account.

Thanks for guiding. I have added rules as suggested, however problem is still existing.
When I type https://careerbanaye.com/sitemap.xml, ideally it should go to https://careerbanaye.com/sitemap_index.xml, but it is still redirecting to homepage.

On your website, the WordPress default sitemaps were still trying to load when accessing the URL you mentioned. After installing a plugin that disables those completely we are able to see that the sitemap now loads fine via either URL.
When submitting the sitemap to Google we always recommend that you submit the URL sitemap_index.xml to prevent any issues as the other one should not be used when Rank Math is installed.

Thanks a lot for solving my problem. I have checked the site https://careerbanaye.com/sitemap.xml and found that it is now redirecting to https://careerbanaye.com/sitemap_Index.xml
As suggested, I have removed old sitemap https://careerbanaye.com/sitemap.xml from Google Search Console (GSC) and have submitted new sitemap https://careerbanaye.com/sitemap_Index.xml into it successfully. The same has been crawled yesterday evening. Please let me know, how may days GSC will take to crawl my posts inside new sitemap for indexing.

We’re glad that your sitemap’s issue is already fixed.
Unfortunately, there’s no definite time for Google to recrawl your site. According to Googe guidelines, crawling can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
