  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

This error does occur when the link to the canonical page references the AMP version instead of the non-AMP version (the original page). The canonical link should be present only on the AMP page, it should not refer to itself though.

This can be solved by using the standard mode of the AMP setting since it serves your pages as fully AMP without a non-AMP version and the canonical link will still be the un-modified version of your page URL.

However, we may wish to replicate this from your end to see if this is the case here.

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Thank you for your response.

My problem is solved by using “Transitional Mode”. But, now I have a query:

Should I also enable the AMP module of your plugin?

I am asking this because I had read the article about this issue – “Referenced AMP URL is self-canonical AMP”. In this article, they recommend disabling the AMP module of your plugin.

    Hello,

It is recommended to turn on Rank Math’s AMP module so Rank Math can insert the necessary meta tags needed for the AMP version of your website. That is why our AMP module is automatically enabled once you installed a supporting AMP plugin.

You can refer more here: https://rankmath.com/kb/using-amp-with-rankmath/

Since the issue has been resolved by using “Transitional Mode”, you can leave Rank Math’s AMP module enabled.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Thank you so much for your support 😊
