After adding the HTML Meta tag, save the changes, clear the website cache and verify again.

I could try clearing my browser cache, could that be the reason?

Yes, you can try clearing the browser cache.
Also, ensure that you are copying the full meta tag from the Search Console.

Cleared both my website cache and browser cache and still didn’t work.
Yes, I’m doing it exactly like the screencast.
Any idea why this is happening? I’ve done this many times before with Yoast and various other apps, so I’m not sure.
I connected Google Services which linked my Google Account to my Rank Math account and it shows Green for both Google Analytics and Google Search Console on the Analytics tab of the General Settings of Rank Math. This was supposed to automatically verify Google Search Console? But when I go to Google Search Console it says unverified. And then when I try to verify by putting the HTML code to the Webmaster Tools of Rank Math, it still doesn’t verify.
One further thought. Does my site need to be live for this to work?

In order to verify it. Your website needs to be active so that google can parse the source and verify the HTML tag. You can make your site active just for verification purposes.
