Robots File Error

    Hi – My hosting (A2 Hosting) require a physical robots.txt file on the server. If I delete this, one is generated automatically every morning at 9am. For this reason, RankMath will not allow me to create a virtual robots file.

    I messaged the host and they say that this is a built in feature – they cannot disable it? They say I must edit the robots file on the server directly.

    I would prefer to use RankMath to edit the file.

    Please could you advise.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

    Since your web host already confirmed that they regenerate the static robots.txt file when it is deleted from your website files, we cannot control it then.

    In this case, I would recommend editing that static robots.txt file with Rank Math’s recommended default robots.txt rules like this:

    User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php
Sitemap: yoursite.com/sitemap_index.xml

    Remember to update the yoursite.com line with your actual website name.
