Ownership verification failed. Could not find website

    Hi,

    I was trying to verify my website but I get a message in the Google search console saying Ownership verification failed. Failure reason: Could not find your site.

    My website is currently in maintenance mode (using the CMP plugin). Does this affect Rankmath?

    I have the checkbox ‘discourage search engine from indexing site’ unchecked in CMP plugin settings if that helps.

    Could you please confirm if you have verified your site using the HTML verification in Rank Math?

    If so, the HTML verification code is not showing in your site’s source code due to the maintenance plugin you’re using.

    Hi Reinelle,

    Yes I’m using HTML tag and pasting it into the relevant place in the WordPress site. Is this not possible when website is in maintenence mode?

    Hello,

    The Maintenance plugin overrides the Rank Math Meta tags, and it should be since your website is currently under maintenance. Disable the Maintenance plugin temporarily and verify the site again.
