analytics.js vs gtag.js

    Rank Math free

I’m being told by another plugin to upgrade to gtag.js tracking mode. I’m currently still using analytics.js. Is for RM safe to do so, and/or should I do anything else to ensure a seamless transition?
    Thanks.

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

You can use Rank Math to install the Analytics code as it will install the gtag.js to your site. You can do this from WP Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Analytics > Install Analytics Code.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any further assistance.

Hello, yes, thanks. I know I can install the code from RM. What you are saying also means if the gtag.js is already installed from somewhere else, then RM will pick it up automatically with no problems or further configuration required. Correct?

    Hello,

If gtag.js is already installed that means you have other plugin/theme injecting the code inside your website, If you enable the Rank Math’s “Install Analytics code” option from the settings. It will simply add another analytics property and can cause multiple tracking.

In regards to your other question, you can learn more about the comparison here:

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Hello, I know this. Please re-read my question. I’m concerned of compatibility. I do not want to enable/inject gtag.js from RM at this time. I want to know if when gtag.js is already available, does RM will pick it up w/o further configuration required from inside RM. Thanks.

    Hello,

Sorry for the confusion. If you already have a gtag.js code installed then you don’t need to add it using Rank Math. The actual use of the code is not related to Rank Math or any other plugin. The code is installed so that Google Analytics can track visitor activities on your site. It doesn’t matter which plugin adds the code.

If it’s already present on your site then there is no need to be worried about compatibility.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any further assistance.

That’s what I needed to know. Thank you.
