Wrong URL indexed

    Hi Team,

I had some issue on my website this past week and I published an article by mistake with the wrong URL. I reversed it to draft, changed the URL and published again.
I see that google indexed the old URL and the new URL.
The old URL is not on my site anymore.
What’s the best way to proceed? Do I just let it go to a 404 and then eventually Google will remove it from being indexed?
Or is it better to use the redirect function at this time?
    Thanks,
    Claire.

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us.

I checked and both the URLs seem active. However, the new URL doesn’t seem to be indexed yet.

Upon taking a closer look, I found that the old URL is getting cached and it still appears as if the page exists.

Please have a look at the screencast in the sensitive data section of this ticket.

Please clear your website’s cache and wait for Google to re-crawl your website again and see if the issue is fixed. Since the old URL is indexed on Google, it is recommended to create a redirection from the old to the new URL.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Great, very helpful.
    thanks!
