Page scanned, but not currently indexed (Status: Excluded) in Google

Hi, I recently opened a new site using WordPress: http://www.stefanopoma.it

I initially used the Yoast SEO plugin and generated my sitemap. All pages on my site were indexed correctly (I didn’t have any articles at that time).

A few days ago I started using RankMath. I generated the new sitemap and it was imported in Google Search Console correctly. I created 3 new articles and published them (they are present in the sitemap).
    https://stefanopoma.it/trekking/escursione-al-rifugio-capanna-2000/
    https://stefanopoma.it/trekking/escursione-tredici-piante-da-zone/
    https://stefanopoma.it/personal-branding/perche-ho-aperto-un-blog-poma-stefano/

Unfortunately for now these articles are not indexed and the problem is as follows:
“Page scanned, but not currently indexed
    Status: Excluded”
(find in Google Search Console page)

On RankMath I have enabled indexing of all articles (screen: https://ibb.co/tMwmvfJ)

On WordPress the article links respect the following wording: https://stafanopoma.it//%category%/%postname%/

running the URL check procedure on search.console.com all urls result: “The URL is not found on Google” but also “The URL is available for Google”.
So for now I have manually requested indexing.

The last strange thing is that this article: https://stefanopoma.it/trekking/escursione-tredici-piante-da-zone/

previously had a different url: https://stefanopoma.it/trekking/other-title

The old URL was indexed correctly (when I published the article by mistake) and on google now it appears in the search results but of course a 404 error is returned.
The sitemap now does not contain that old URL anymore and I made a request to remove it.

Basically as soon as I published the article by mistake it was indexed, now that I correct the url and publish the 3 articles officially they are not indexed … I do not understand.

I don’t know if the problem is related to the plugin or to Google (I also wrote to Google support).
With Yoast all pages were indexed very quickly, installing RankMath I followed the following procedure: https://rankmath.com/kb/yoast-seo-migration/

All URLs continue to be indexed correctly and are also present in the new sitemap. Unfortunately though (for now) indexing does not work for new articles.

a few days ago I also tried to change the google title of some pages (using RankMath plugin). After 2 hours on Google I kept seeing the old title.
Maybe I just need to wait some time?
For page titles it’s not important, but for new articles it could be a problem.

    Thanks for the help

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’ve checked all the pages you have shared, but they are already appearing on the search results page.

Please note that it is completely normal for a newly published post/page/website to take time before it gets crawled or indexed by Google. It depends on a lot of factors. Your posting frequency + the domain authority are just two of the many factors Google considers when indexing some new URL. Google assigns a crawl budget to your website depending on these factors (especially these two) and that has a direct effect on how soon or how late your content can get indexed.

You can also check for noindex tag here to rule out that your page isn’t getting indexed due to a mistake in plugin settings:
    https://smallseotools.com/meta-tags-analyzer/

If noindex is not present, then it is just a waiting game before Google decides to include the URL in the index. No SEO plugin can force Google to index something they don’t want to.

With that said, we have found that barring any issues like copied/DMCA/low-quality content issues – Google usually indexes posts within a week or two. So, we request you to kindly wait.

Google even says that on their official website:

The above screenshot was taken from this page:

So, you have to be a bit patient and allow it some time. Also, if the wrong URL has been indexed, it will also take time to remove that and update the search results page with the correct one.

    I hope that helps.

Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.
