    Hello,

When I use special characters like ✔, the shortcode stops working and shows %title% in the meta-description.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’ve tried to copy the character you have shared, but I’m unable to replicate the issue. Please see this screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/hbyYdp

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

Let us know if you have found the culprit

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thanks for your help. I have investigated with the site health plugin and the problem still exist while using TwentyTwenty and RankMath enabled. Nothing else.

The %title% works after the text, not in front.

    Hello,

I’ve copy-pasted the meta description and it is working fine on my end.

The %title% variable is outputting the Title at the beginning of the meta description:
    output

The value is correctly added to the page source as well:

Could you please clear your website cache and check again?

    Thanks again.

Based on your screenshot I looked at the meta-description on my site. Here it looks normal and does not show %title%.
So the snippet only does not convert on the backend.

Do you still want to investigate on my site?
