Redirection 410 Imports

    Hello!

I imported redirections from the redirection.me plugin into RankMath, and I had used the redirection.me to implement 410 Gone HTTP status code to multiple posts that I had deleted.

When the import was done, I think all the 410 redirects now redirect to my homepage at https://www.hellodollface.com/.

Should I just delete these or is there a better way I can handle this?

    Thanks!

    Best,
    Kismet

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Please check if the Fallback Behavior option in Rank Math > General Settings > Redirections is set to redirect to your homepage.

I’m assuming it was set that way, and the redirections were not successfully imported. Could you please check the redirects in Rank Math > Redirections if they are imported successfully?

Please also share some URLs that are supposed to be redirected as 410.

    I hope that helps.

Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

    Hi Reinelle,

Thank you for looking into this for me.

I checked the Fallback Behavior and it is set to Default 404.

All of the 301 redirects seemed to have imported properly.

The redirects that were 410 in the redirection plugin imported as well, the ‘TYPE’ says 410 but they all point to the homepage URL.

    SAMPLE 410 URLS:

    https://www.hellodollface.com/2010/09/piperlime-pop-up-store/
    – marked 410
    – redirects to homepage URL

    https://www.hellodollface.com/2011/08/beauty-in-pictures/
    -marked 410
    -redirects to https://www.hellodollface.com/clean-beauty/

Please let me know if I can provide any furt informationtion.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

    Thanks for getting back.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

I have added the Sensitive Date.

I tried to install the WP Security Audit Log plugin as you suggested. I was able to successfully install and activate it last time I spoke with your support but this time it wouldn’t.

Here’s a screencast of the behavior.

    Hello,

I logged into your website’s admin area and upon investigating, I was unable to replicate the issue with the first URL (https://www.hellodollface.com/2010/09/piperlime-pop-up-store/). Upon accessing, it returns a 410 status code.

If it is still redirecting to the homepage on your end, then please clear your browser’s cache and see if that fixes the issue.

Regarding the second set of URLs, I found that a 301 (Permanent redirection) was applied to the URL. From https://www.hellodollface.com/2011/08/beauty-in-pictures/ to https://www.hellodollface.com/clean-beauty/. As I disabled that redirection, the page returned the 410 status code without any issues.

Please have a look at the screencast available in the sensitive data section of this ticket and confirm it on your end.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I guess the redirections are working properly. My only question now is should I edit all the 410 redirects that were imported and remove the destination (homepage URL) from the rule?

Or leave them as is because they are working correctly?

I added a screencast to the sensitive data to show how a new 410 redirect looks opposed to the imported 410 redirects.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

If the redirects are working properly then there is no need to edit them. The homepage URL must be there just to fill in a required field during the import & export. Since the URLs are redirecting correctly, you don’t need to edit them.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any further assistance.
