404 monitor feature

    Hello,

I have enabled the 404 monitor feature on a couple of my sites. I see many URI items displayed. Are they all errors? If they are errors should I redirect them all? Also, I can not tell if they are from direct or indirect search queries. I’m not even sure if it matters.

I have read the tutorial, watched the videos, and so far am no closer to knowing best practices on how to interpret these results. Guidance is appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Rick

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Please note that we only report the 404s. We do not have information on how or why they are generated.

To further understand the 404s you received, you may enable advanced reporting by heading over to Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor and select the “Advanced Mode” as shown below:
    IMG

This should help you identify the referrer URI of this error.

You can also fix these errors by redirecting them to a related page on your website: https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-404-errors/

To exclude URLs or any path from your website, you can do it here: WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor > Exclude Paths

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
