I also just posted this to the group…but I wanted to send to you guys here too…this is something I’m really struggling with and it’s a big decision:
I have a travel related website and my industry/niche has a pretty substantial amount of press releases from others (NEWS) that comes out frequently.
Currently I do daily ‘digest’ of links to news on one page with a one or two original sentence blurb that I write. (NOT strong SEO value)
I also am adding totally original ‘evergreen’ guides on a consistent basis (just to give an idea of what I’m doing).
I’m now thinking of adding the actual press releases from the other sources (I described above)…maybe 5 or so a day (for example) to have more content.
QUESTIONS:
How much of the press release should I rewrite to at least get some SEO value out of it?
I read that duplicate content isn’t a ‘penalty’ but do I want to avoid that altogether?
If I do reprint a release is there any SEO value?
Should press releases have a different schema markup than my guides? (currently: ‘article’)
Again, I want to make clear this about REPOSTING/REWRITING others’ releases…not doing them about me or my brand.
Thanks in Advance!
Ken
