robotx.txt cant edit

This usually happens when there is a physical robots.txt file present in your site’s root folder. Please login to your web server via FTP and delete the robots.txt file present in the root folder.

It is the same folder where you have your wp-content, wp-admin
etc.. folders.

Once you delete the robots.txt file, Rank Math’s virtual robots.txt file will take over and you will be able to edit the robots.txt file without issues.

If you are not sure about the file location, you can get in touch with your web host and ask them to delete the file.

Please contact your hosting provider and ask them to check if there is a physical robots.txt file present in your site’s root folder and if there is one then ask them to delete that.

After they delete the physical file, you will be able to edit the robots.txt file from the General Settings of Rank Math.

If they are unable to find any physical file then we will we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
