Hi, I have a members area on my website and I don’t want to include the Account Page, cart Page and other such pages in my sitemap. Even I am getting an error on search console that the No index pages are being submitted by sitemap for indexing.

how can I remove those pages from the sitemap?

It is wasting my crawl budget and also causing conflict with the search console.

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Noindex pages should not be included in the sitemap. Can you please follow these steps?

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

If the URLs are excluded after following the above-mentioned steps then remove the old sitemaps from your GSC and submit only the main sitemap(/sitemap_index.xml) again and wait for Google to crawl again.

If the URLs aren’t excluded even after flushing the cache then we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

I have purged the cache as you mentioned. Let’s wait for a day or two for Google to mark the problem as solved. Also, I am not getting the same option in Rankmath>sitemap as shown in the video.

    Hello,

Thank you for keeping in touch with us and please do let us know how it goes.

Also, I am not getting the same option in Rankmath>sitemap as shown in the video.

Please note that some options are only available when you enable the Advanced Mode in Rank Math. If it’s not showing, you must have chosen to use the Easy Mode. Please follow the steps in this link to switch to Advanced Mode:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/advanced-mode/

After doing so, you should be able to see more options on the sitemap settings page.

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

Hi, I have moved to advanced setup and tried removing the pages but for some reason, that is not reflected in the site map on the search console.

    Hello,

Can you please share your website URL and with it, your admin login as well? Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Hey, it’s a client’s website and they are very protective about the usage of the website.
I can’t share login details. If you can check it on any desk or any other way in which we share access to our system then that would be great.

    Hello,

Thank you for the follow-up, and apologies for the delay.

We are sorry but we do not offer remote support or via AnyDesk.

Could you please share your sitemap URL and the pages that you wish to remove? You can add them in the sensitive data section. It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    Thank you for that information.

I’ve checked your sitemap, and it seems that those pages are still there. To exclude your posts/pages in your sitemap, please head over to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Sitemap Settings > General.

    Exclude Post Page Sitemap

And, here’s how you find the post/page ID inside WordPress: https://mythemeshop.com/blog/how-to-find-post-category-tag-comments-or-user-id-in-wordpress/

For search engines to stop crawling these pages, you can also add these lines to your robots.txt:

    Disallow: /cart
    Disallow: /category/news
    Disallow: /checkout
    Disallow: /my-account

Please refer to this tutorial guide for more details on editing the robots.txt file with Rank Math: https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-edit-robots-txt-with-rank-math/

Once done, you can resubmit your sitemap in your Google Search Console account and give some time for Google to recrawl your site.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.

    Great!!!
    Thank you !!!
    Will try this out…
