Rank Math’s News Sitemap focuses on generating the sitemap file while this plugin focuses on RSS.

As you probably know, websites that want to appear in Google News have to fulfill some guidelines set by Google. One of those guidelines is having a compliant news sitemap. Also, adding the News sitemap will help your contents/articles to get indexed quickly.

Thank you for the follow-up.
You don’t need to exactly change your sitemap in your Google Search Console after having a news sitemap.
You can resubmit your main sitemap /sitemap_index.xml if Google still doesn’t recrawl your website or not seeing your news sitemap. Google will use your main sitemap to find the other sitemaps.
