Yoast to Rank Match migration to a fresh Wordpress install

    Rank Math free

    Hello,

I have an interesting situation I can’t seem to find a clear answer to.

I’m building a new website for a client where their old website is using Yoast. I started the new site from scratch—fresh install, new pages, new database, etc.

I’ll be migrating 200+ blog posts to the new version of the site (same domain/URL).

In this situation, being that the databases are separate and will not be combined, is there a way to extract and then import the Yoast data from the blog posts to then import into Rank Math? It looks like the built-in importer in Rank Math would require Yoast to be installed already on the same server and same database using the same tables in order to migrate properly?

Thanks very much for any help you can give.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.

You can install Rank Math to your original site where you can process the import from Yoast to Rank Math before migrating to your new site using WordPress > Tools > Export.

You can also use this tool to export and then import all SEO data in Rank Math:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/import-xml-csv-settings-to-rank-math-seo/

I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

    Interesting! Thanks for the reply.

So if I import all Yoast into Rank Math on the old site and then export the posts from the Tools > Export, the Rank Math data will export with the posts in the XML?

    Thanks again!

Just tested with a couple of posts and it worked like a charm, thanks very much again for the help!
