Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
The sitemap is usually set to noindex by default. You would not wish your sitemap to be appearing on the SERPs. However this doesn’t mean it won’t be crawled when correctly submitted.
To correctly submit your sitemap, on your GSC please head over to GSC and add your main sitemap only sitemap_index.xml under the sitemap section. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your help have now submitted the main sitemap as per your instructions and gsc has said they will notify me if there are any further problems.
