    Google Console couldn’t fetch sitemap

I have tried rebuilding index in Rank Math, it didn’t work.

What else could I try to fix this?

    Thanks.

  • After checking details – it stated HTTP Error for why Sitemap could not be read:

We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.

    Examples:

    HTTP Error:
    404

But the thing is, I haven’t changed anything since the last success of receiving my last sitemap last night

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

If the issue persists, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Thank you, Jeremy.

Yes, I deeply looked into it with plugins and found nothing – I haven’t changed / touched the plugins in almost 6-7 months.

The sitemap with Rank Math has always worked, yet to be honest, I have been configuring the settings in rank math (setting up redirects, optimizing my sitemap to include / exclude particular categories / tags)

Even despite that, it was working great for months.

Yes, there was a recent WordPress update that happened automatically (WP sent me a confirmation of the update). – but it would be overthinking to declare that is the root cause.

That’s all the info I can give you at this time of thinking.

The credential details are posted in Sensitive Data.

    Again, Many thanks.

    Hello,

I have resaved the sitemap settings(without changing anything) and the sitemap appears to be working now.

Check the screenshot in the sensitive data section.

Please resubmit the sitemap_index.xml in Google Search Console.

I hope this helps. Looking forward to helping you.

Thank you ever so much, Anas.

    It’s fully fixed!

I will try that next time before contacting you again if things like that go wrong.

    All resolved 😀
