For some reason, the sitemap is not updating. Already tried clicking save on “permalinks” and also turn on and off on the Rank Math dashboard. Did not help. How we can fix this?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math, and sorry for the inconvenience caused.
I have checked your sitemap and the last post appears to be published on 5th Feb 2021.Can you please share some of the recently published posts that do not appear in the sitemap?
Alternatively, you can follow these steps.
1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/That should fix the issue. Please let me know if that does not. We are here to assist.
Hm… I don’t see any of the last published posts being on the 5th of November. Did the first suggestion, but did not help and I don’t have a caching plugin.
The search console still sees only 26 pages when there should be at least 30.
Adding one URL as an example that is not on the sitemap to sensitive data.
Hello,
The post you mentioned is already present in the sitemap.
(Screenshot in sensitive data section)Please make sure you have submitted the
sitemap_index.xml
file in the search console. Also, you can try fetching the newly published posts by submitting them to the search console.
I hope this helps. Looking forward to helping you.
That is weird… Okay, I understand that I may not see it (maybe some weird caching issue), but Google Search Console also does not see the page.
I double-checked, the sitemap URL is correct, but under posts, it says “17” same thing I see where your screenshot shows the correct 21 posts number.
Search Console says the last read was today – submitted few times to make sure, still says old number of posts.
Hello,
Please make sure you have verified the correct version of your website on Google. Please check if you have verified the www (or non-www) and HTTPS (or HTTP) version of your website. If there is a mismatch, please fix that.
Finally, make sure you have cleared the cache and excluded Google bot from seeing a cached version of your sitemap.
If you have followed these and you are able to view your sitemap without any problem, then Rank Math is outputting your sitemap correctly and the error must be coming from Google. You can try and use a 3rd party sitemap plugin to confirm. Just make sure you have disabled the Sitemap module of Rank Math in
WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard
when using a 3rd party sitemap plugin. If the other plugin works, please do let us know.
Thank you.
Okay, so the issue is still not fixed.
I tried checking on different browsers, VPNs, and even different computers – all show that the sitemap still does not contain all URLs.
Google search console also cannot see the new URLs on their sitemap settings. Shows the same number of URLs that I see, so I am not really sure how you are able to see the correct sitemap when everywhere I checked does not showcase it.
Hello,
Thank you for following up.
I’ve checked your sitemaps and also getting an empty page but with source code. Are you still using Rank Math to generate your sitemap at this point?
If so, could you check if you have a static file with the same name as your sitemap file (sitemap_index.xml)? You should then FTP into your website’s root directory and remove that file as Rank Math’s sitemap is generated dynamically.
I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.
You are right! Checked the folders under WP files and there are 2 different sitemap folders. One is for Rank Math (under plugins) and the other is under “wp-includes” but cannot work out which plugin created this or where this sitemap came from. If I tried to delete it, the site breaks down.
Adding a list of installed plugins (maybe this will help) under sensitive data.
Hello,
Looking through, I am not seeing an empty page now, and I also see 21 URLs in post-sitemap.xml, including the URL for best outdoor misting fans.
If there is a duplicated sitemap_index.xml, it should only be located in the root folder example,
public_html/
is a root folder. Can I confirm that you still see 17 URLs or 21 URLs? If so, can you please try accessing the sitemap URL using Incognito mode if you are on Chrome?
Currently, can you confirm if the issue persists on GSC?
Looking forward to helping you.
