FATAL error after Update

    I am facing a fatal Error after installing last update. (I missed some updates before)
    I did a normal update out of WP plugins page. Nothing fancy, and I have done no file customizing.

    What I have tried to fix:
    – After getting the error, I tried to download latest files from your plugin page “seo-by-rank-math.1.0.56”. And copy it into plugin folder and overwrite existing files. But … still the same error.

    Need help fast (because of fatal error 🙁 ).
    As I said, I did no file customizing or fancy. Just a normal plugins update.

    Error pops up when accessing any page in admin area, as example
    https://<Site>/wp-admin/

    Thank you Reinelle, but there is one misconception.

    The Fatal Error comes up every time I open a page in WP admin section. So, I have no chance to create any user for you. And also if I give you a user, you will not be able to check any settings or something else in Wp admin section, because the fatal error comes up.

    I entered FTP Data for you in sensitive data area. Just for “reading” files. Is this enough? If we have to change files, you can tell me. I also can switch WP into debug if needed in wp-config, just tell me.

    Just let me know what I can do to provide you more data if needed

    Hello,

    Thank you for following up.

    It seems that the FTP user has limited access. Please try temporarily disabling Rank Math by renaming the folder seo-by-rank-math in /wp-content/plugins/ to access your admin dashboard.

    Please also add the WordPress logins in the Sensitive Data section to further investigate this issue.

    Thank you for the advise with the renaming the folder to access admin area again! I though this would mess up everything, but it worked.

    After doing this, I saw you released a minor new version 1.0.56 -> 1.0.56.1 I installed it and before that, I installed newest WP Version. And then I activated Rank Math again. Now everything is working fine.

    I think two things could be reason for the fixed error:
    1. Error was in 1.0.56 and not in 1.0.56.1 anymore. Update 1.0.56.1 came out yesterday, so could be possible to fix my issue.
    2. Or 1.0.56 was not compatible with older WP version. Here, just as reminder, official advise is, update all plugins first so they show compatibility with current new WP Version, then update WP. So newer plugin version should be compatible to older WP version to make this update process.

    Problem resolved.
