Hello,
I apologize for the issue you are facing with redirection priorities. In Rank Math, the order of your redirection rules is crucial because the plugin processes them in the order they are listed. To achieve your goal of redirecting bios.html to /bios while also redirecting all other .html files to the root /, you can follow these steps:
-
Create a Specific Redirect for bios.html: First, set up a redirect for bios.html to go to /bios. This should be the first rule you create.
- Source URL:
/bios.html
- Destination URL:
/bios
-
Create a General Redirect for All .html Files: Next, create a more general redirect that will catch all other .html files and redirect them to the root.
- Source URL:
/*.html
- Destination URL:
/
By placing the specific redirect for bios.html above the general redirect, you ensure that it will be processed first, preventing it from being caught by the broader rule.
If you need further assistance or want to ensure your setup is correct, we recommend checking out our tutorial on setting up redirections or considering our professional setup service available at Rank Math Services for comprehensive assistance with your plugin setup.

I don’t think this is correct. We would need to know way to many very specific use cases way ahead of time. Also, there is no way to re-order these rules.
Hello,
Unfortunately, right now, our Redirection doesn’t have a priority selection option.
However, you can try to set a regex redirection for all the .html URLs and then create an exact type redirection for bios.html.
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
