  • hi, i recently started following you youtube channel because of the information and the value you provide and i love it.
i learned about SEO from many pages like hobspot, google, and some youtubers like sam oh, julian goldie and matt diggity.
recently my cusin wanted to start a website about browser games and wants to rank for it, he thought that it would be easy to make a website, post games, and rank. when he told me about that. so suggested to help him and i explained about what i’ve learned. so gave me access to his website, started posting and applying internal linking. also i subbmitted the sitemap to google search console and found the pages discovered are 0, i gave it some time to see if it gets indexed. every process i do i wait to see if there’s any result, but no use, always every time i check the indexation of the pages (games), all i find is home page and google search console in the SERP. and by the it got indexed by bing. also i tied httpstatus.io which it told me the problem is in the sitemap marked with noindex tag. i check where the problem might be, it wasn’t wordpress settings, it wasn’t robot.txt file then i found it in yoast, beacause i disactivated the plugin and cleared cash, retested the sitemap in httpstatus.io the noindex tag disappeared. i said finally solved the problem, i resubmitted the sitemap(by wordpess) to GSC, though i found that discovered pages:0. now i’m very frustrated from all this work and no results yet. at least i should get indexed not ranking. i just want to see the games indexed. if i don’t find the solution i think i might stop this , and i really don’t want to. and i need some assistace to see to problem and solve it.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the indexing of your cousin’s website. It’s great to hear that you’re helping him with his project and applying what you’ve learned about SEO.

From your description, it seems like you’ve already taken several important steps to troubleshoot the indexing issue. Since you mentioned that the sitemap was previously marked with a noindex tag due to the Yoast plugin, and that you’ve now deactivated it and cleared the cache, this is a positive step forward.

Here are a few additional suggestions to help you further:

    1. Check Sitemap Accessibility: Ensure that the sitemap is accessible by using tools like httpstatus.io. This will confirm that Google can reach the sitemap without any issues.

    2. Verify Sitemap Submission: Make sure that you have submitted the correct sitemap URL in Google Search Console. The correct URL should be sitemap_index.xml if you are using Rank Math.

    3. Monitor Crawl Status: In Google Search Console, check the last crawl date for your sitemap. If it hasn’t been crawled recently, it may take some time for Google to index the new pages. You can also try removing and re-adding the sitemap in GSC to prompt a fresh crawl.

    4. Check for NoIndex Tags: Double-check that none of the individual pages you want indexed are set to noindex in Rank Math’s settings. You can do this by editing each page and looking under the Advanced tab in the Rank Math metabox.

    5. Search Engine Visibility: Ensure that the Search engine visibility option is unchecked in WordPress settings (Settings → Reading). If this is checked, it can prevent all pages from being indexed.

    6. Patience: Sometimes, it takes time for Google to index new content, especially if the site is new or has low authority. Keep monitoring the situation over the next few weeks.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, we recommend replying to your ticket so a human agent from our support team can assist you further. They will be able to provide more tailored assistance based on your specific situation.

Thank you for reaching out, and we hope this helps you get your cousin’s website indexed soon!
