Issue with Rank Math Causing LearnDash Navigation Buttons to Disappear

#1111905
  • Dear Rank Math Support Team,

I am experiencing a compatibility issue between Rank Math and LearnDash.

When Rank Math is activated, the navigation buttons in LearnDash—such as “Previous Lesson/Module,” “Next Lesson/Module,” and “Back to Course”—disappear from the course interface.

    Steps I Have Taken
-I already tested using Troubleshooting Mode (Health Check & Troubleshooting).
-With only LearnDash and Rank Math active, the issue still occurs.
-When Rank Math is deactivated, the buttons reappear and work normally.
-I also disabled Perfmatters and other optimization plugins to ensure it is not related to caching or script optimization.

    Screenshots
-With Rank Math enabled → buttons are missing.
-With Rank Math disabled → buttons display correctly. (screenshot attached:https://imgur.com/a/ytOcj7D)

This confirms the issue is caused by Rank Math interfering with LearnDash’s CSS/JS.

    Could you please advise on:
-Whether this is a known conflict between Rank Math and LearnDash?
-Any workaround or settings adjustment I can make so that LearnDash buttons remain visible while using Rank Math?

If needed, I am happy to provide temporary access to my staging site for further investigation.

Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to your guidance on resolving this issue.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the navigation buttons in LearnDash disappearing when Rank Math is activated. Thank you for providing detailed information about the steps you’ve taken to troubleshoot the problem.

This does seem like a compatibility issue between Rank Math and LearnDash, especially since you’ve confirmed that the buttons reappear when Rank Math is deactivated. While we do not have specific information on known conflicts between Rank Math and LearnDash, we recommend a few steps you can take to potentially resolve this:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that both Rank Math and LearnDash are updated to their latest versions. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues.

    2. Disable Specific Modules: In Rank Math, try disabling certain modules that may be affecting the front-end display. You can do this by navigating to Rank Math SEO → Dashboard → Modules and disabling any non-essential modules temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.

    3. Custom CSS/JS: If you have any custom CSS or JavaScript added to your site, try temporarily removing it to see if it affects the LearnDash buttons.

    4. Contact LearnDash Support: Since this issue involves LearnDash, reaching out to their support team may provide additional insights or solutions specific to their plugin.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, we recommend replying to your ticket with your site URL and any additional details. A human agent from our support team will then be able to assist you further and investigate the issue more thoroughly.

Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to helping you resolve this issue!

    Hello Rank Math Support Team,

I have already tried the recommendations, but unfortunately the problem still persists. Please see my clarifications below:
I am already using the latest version of WordPress, LearnDash, and Rank Math. I even tested this issue on a fresh installation with only WordPress, LearnDash, and Rank Math installed — the problem still happens.

I have already disabled all Rank Math modules in the dashboard, but the issue remains.

I do not have any custom CSS or JavaScript on my site. It is a clean installation.

During my debugging, even third-party tools such as ChatGPT consistently point out that this is a conflict caused by Rank Math with LearnDash, since the buttons reappear as soon as Rank Math is deactivated.

    Thank you for your support

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

Thank you so much for providing a staging website for us to troubleshoot the issue.

We would like to debug this issue further. Can you add your website’s FTP login in the Sensitive Data section of this ticket?

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

This issue happens when the WP core function get_the_excerpt() is called to get the Open Graph description ( we use this as a fallback when no SERP description is set for that post ).

A fix to this would be to set the Single Lesson Description under Titles & Meta >> Lessons to something else besides the %excerpt% or %excerpt_only% eg for Lessons at:

    https://maestro.markplusinstitute.com/staging23x/wp-admin/admin.php?page=rank-math-options-titles

We noticed the same behavior with other SEO plugin (like Yoast) that add the <meta property="og:description".. metas, and no related errors were logged.

We apologize for the inconveniences that might have been caused as a result of this issue.

    Hope that helps.
