Error when editing internal links after updating Rank Math

#1097308
  • Hello Rank Math Team,

When I try to edit internal links in the WordPress post editor, I encounter an issue. Since updating Rank Math to version 1.0.250 or later, the editor shows this message:

“This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.”

This problem did not occur before the update. Could you please check and advise on how to fix it?

    Thank you for your support.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with editing internal links after updating Rank Math. This error message can sometimes occur due to conflicts with other plugins or themes, especially after an update.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Clear Cache: Clear your browser cache and any caching plugins you may have on your site.

    2. Disable Other Plugins: Temporarily disable other plugins to see if there is a conflict causing the issue. If the error goes away, re-enable the plugins one by one to identify the conflicting plugin.

    3. Switch Themes: Try switching to a default WordPress theme (like Twenty Twenty-One) to see if the issue persists. If it resolves, the problem may be with your current theme.

    4. Check for JavaScript Errors: Open your browser’s developer console (usually F12) and check for any JavaScript errors that might give more insight into what is causing the block error.

    5. Update Rank Math: Ensure that you are using the latest version of Rank Math, as updates often include bug fixes and improvements.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so that we can investigate further. A human agent from our support team will be able to assist you more comprehensively.

Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope to help you resolve it soon!

This is an automated reply from Rank Math Support Bot. Your ticket has been assigned to a human agent and we will get back to you shortly.

When I click on the link inside the editor, I see the message: “This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.”

I tested by deactivating all plugins, and the block works normally. The error only happens when I activate the Rank Math plugin.

Could you please help me fix this? I need the block to display properly in the editor so I can edit its content.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hello Rank Math Team,

I submitted a support ticket regarding an issue after updating Rank Math to version 1.0.250 or later. When editing internal links in the WordPress post editor, the block shows this error message:

“This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.”

It has been a while since I submitted the ticket, but I haven’t received any response yet. Could you please check and update me on the status?

For reference, here are some details about my environment:

    WordPress version: 6.6.3

    PHP version: 8.2.29

    Theme: GeneratePress 3.6.0

This issue did not occur before updating Rank Math. Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Hi, thanks for reporting this. Since the issue only occurs with Rank Math active, it seems to be a conflict. Please ensure you’re on the latest version of both WordPress and Rank Math, then clear all caches and test again. If the problem persists, kindly enable debug mode and share the error log so we can check further.

    Hello,

We can see that the page is loading correctly.

Resolving the “This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed” issue requires a structured approach—starting with checking WordPress version compatibility, switching themes, disabling conflicting plugins, and debugging block content. If necessary, adjusting PHP memory limits and reinstalling core files can help restore Gutenberg functionality.

We will keep this ticket open until you confirm that your issue is resolved. Let us know if you need any further assistance with this.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello Rankmath team, the reason you see everything working normally is because the Rankmath version you’re using is an older one (1.0.249). As I mentioned, the block issue only occurs after updating to the latest version when editing internal links in the editor.

    Hello,

It seems that you’re currently using the Rank Math PRO plugin, but the account you used to open this ticket is a free account.

Can you please search and forward a receipt from FastSpring.com so we can locate your account and verify it?

You can try disabling the Rank Math PRO plugin, updating the FREE plugin, and seeing if the issue persists.

Let us know how that goes. Please do get in touch if you need further assistance.

I activated Rank Math Pro through a hosting service that offered it as part of their package. Now I’m experiencing an issue that your team still hasn’t resolved.

I’ve already explained very clearly that the older version of Rank Math does not have this issue — the problem only occurs after updating from version 1.0.250 onwards.

I also provided you with my admin access so you can check directly, but instead of investigating, you keep asking me to do various steps on my side.

Please review this carefully and provide a proper solution.

    Hello,

We deeply apologise for not getting back to you earlier.

The temporary login access you shared redirects to the home page, likely because the access token has expired. Please renew the access for 3 – 7 days so we can investigate this on your site.

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you.

I have updated the admin access to the website.

    Hello,

We would like to debug this issue further. Can you add your website’s FTP login in the Sensitive Data section of this ticket?

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

I don’t need it anymore, and I also don’t want to use your Rank Math plugin. Your team is too slow, and I’ve had to wait for too long.
