Website Menu Pages Not Indexing Properly in Google Search

#1094026
  • Hi team, I’m running into an issue with my website where some of my menu pages are not showing up in Google search results. I’ve set up Rank Math correctly (at least I think so), and other pages like blog posts and product pages are getting indexed without a problem. The issue seems to be specific to my main navigation/menu pages.

For example, I have a page called “Our Menu” that lists different categories, and under it, I’ve created child pages for each category (like Starters, Main Dishes, and Desserts). These pages are live, crawlable, and load perfectly in the browser, but when I check Google Search Console, they are either excluded or marked as “Crawled – currently not indexed.”

I checked my Rank Math settings for these pages, and they are set to “Index” with no noindex tags. The sitemap generated by Rank Math also includes them, so I don’t understand why Google is skipping them. I even submitted the individual URLs for indexing, but Google still hasn’t added them to search results after several weeks.

I thought this might be a duplicate content issue since the menu pages have similar layouts, but the text and content are unique for each one. I also checked for canonical tags, and everything looks correct. Could there be something in Rank Math’s advanced settings that I’m overlooking, like schema or page hierarchy?

Has anyone else faced a similar problem with their menu/category-style pages not getting indexed? Any guidance on the right Rank Math settings or SEO tweaks I should apply would be really helpful. Thanks in advance for your support!

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your website’s menu pages not indexing properly in Google Search. Thank you for providing detailed information about your setup and the steps you’ve already taken.

Here are a few suggestions to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Check Internal Linking Structure

Ensure that your menu pages have sufficient internal links pointing to them from other relevant pages on your website. This can help Google discover and index these pages more effectively. You can set your important pages as pillar content and let Rank Math suggest relevant internal links.

    2. Evaluate Site-Wide Quality

As mentioned by Google’s John Mueller, if many of your pages are not being indexed, it could be a site-wide quality issue. Make sure that your overall site quality meets Google’s standards. This includes having valuable content, a good user experience, and a well-structured site.

    3. Content Audit

Conduct a content audit to ensure that all your menu pages provide unique and valuable information. If any pages are deemed low-quality or thin, consider improving their content or removing them if they do not serve a purpose.

    4. Check for Duplicate Content

Even if the text is unique, similar layouts can sometimes trigger duplicate content flags. Ensure that each page has distinct content and consider using canonical tags if necessary to indicate the preferred version of similar content.

    5. Use Google Search Console

Utilize the URL Inspection Tool in Google Search Console to check the status of your menu pages. This tool can provide insights into why a page is not indexed, such as crawl issues or quality concerns.

    6. Schema Markup

If you haven’t already, consider implementing schema markup for your menu pages. This can help search engines understand the content better and may improve indexing.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these suggestions, we recommend considering our professional setup service offered by our team.
