  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your post sitemap not updating. This can indeed affect your rankings, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

To troubleshoot the sitemap issue, please consider the following steps:

    1. Check for Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, other plugins can conflict with Rank Math. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any conflicts.

    2. Review Your Robots.txt File: Ensure that your sitemap is not being blocked by any rules in your robots.txt file. You can check this by going to Rank Math SEO → General Settings → robots.txt.

    3. Clear Cache: If you are using a caching plugin, clear the cache to ensure that the latest version of your sitemap is being served.

    4. Sitemap Settings: Make sure that your sitemap settings are correctly configured in Rank Math. You can find these settings under Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings.

    5. Manual Refresh: Sometimes, manually refreshing the sitemap can help. You can do this by going to Rank Math SEO → General Settings → Sitemap and toggling the settings.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, we recommend using our professional setup service for a comprehensive review and fix. You can sign up for this service at Rank Math Services. This service requires a PRO subscription and will ensure that your plugin setup is fully correct and adheres to the latest SEO standards.

yes, its almost destroyed my search console sitemap crawling rate, now even bots are not reading my sitemap !!

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

Please share a screenshot from your end showing that Google isn’t reading your sitemap. You can use this tool to share screenshots with us: https://imgur.com/upload.

As for your sitemap’s updating issue, please try following the steps below:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    3. Apply the following filter code to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site:https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

    4. Remove all your sitemaps from your Google Search Console and re-submit only the index sitemap (https://website.com/sitemap_index.xml)

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

Then, kindly share the affected URLs that aren’t included in the sitemap.

If you want us to check deeper in your website’s admin, please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Same/similar error here with latest update.
After the latest update, the sitemap is not working correctly.
New posts are not added to the sitemap.
When changing the number of posts per sitemap, the sitemap does not update. It will stay with 501 articles, even though the number is changed.
If I use the suggested filter snippet, the sitemap updates (e.g. it creates more post sitemaps when the number of posts per sitemap is reduced).
The problem: With the snippet enabled, the first post sitemap crashes the site and shows a Critical Error.
Sitemaps are excluded from cache (it has been working flawlessly for years and problem persists when cache is disabled)

Thanks for the non-existing reply. Feels great to be a paying customer…

Hey Gary, I resolved this issue by rolling back then waiting for the next Rank math update version and then updating the plugin with my firewall in learning mode.

Once updated I did a few things with Rank Math, cleared cache and did a post edit update all still while the firewall was in learning mode and it seemed to update the sitemap.

once done, I turned the firewall to active and the sitemap continued to update.

My theory is a buggy download and install combined with the firewall blocking some functionality.

    Hope that helps.
