website on a subdomain is moved

    Rank Math free

Let’s say I am building a new website on a subdomain called test.mywebsite.com and the new website will replace the current one on mywebsite.com.
The website will be completely rebuilt, and all the pages will get new permalinks, so I have to redirect all old URLs and do all kind of other SEO stuff.
The logical step would be to install RankMath on the new website on test.mywebsite.com and do all the SEO stuff completely and then move it to mywebsite.com when I am done doing so. That way I don’t lose any traffic.

But is it a problem to install RankMath on test.mywebsite.com? will I get errors in RankMath when the domain of the website changes from a subdomain to a main domain.

Do you have some articles about what to do to make sure RankMath still works when a website is moved to another domain?

    Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

Moving site to another domain should have no issue. To redirect your URLs to the new domain, you should do this from the Old domain. Rank math redirects URLs only if the source is the domain this is being set up.

Redirecting is only required if the site has already been indexed and shared. If you have no intent of having the sub-domain indexed, then you can set up Rank math there, it shouldn’t be a problem.
